BEHIND THE SCENES (BTS) is a new and exciting DVD series developed to showcase the creation of a game cinematic sequence. The series follows a team of artists as they demonstrate their production techniques from concept phase to final rendered animation. This chapter in the seriesfocuses on hard surface texture painting for 3D models û in this case a military styled helicopter. Ted begins by organizing the vehicle into discreet layer groups reflective of their final material assignments. He then shows various texture painting techniques and methodologies using Maya, Photoshop�, BodyPaint and ZBrush. The DVD includes production meetings with art director Mark Goerner and culminates with a spectacular rendering of what all the various maps look like when placed on the model.

By first bringing in a line-drawing from a previous lecture (Design 2), we learn how to use the digital medium to create a finished rendering. Two different demostrations will show the entire process. Learn about the importance of values, lighting, and scale to help create the over-all mood. Also covered are some basic tips about Photoshop.

This is the second DVD from 2 DVD tutorial series for dynamic expressions in Maya.Through the use of particle expressions,we gain a greater degree of control over particle attributes. This lecture demonstrates how to isolate individual particles and transform them based on user defined criteria. By combining several techniques, such as custom per-particle attributes and ramp-controlled attributes, we can create effects that are impossible otherwise. Random or wave producing funstions such as 'rand' and 'sin' are simple by themselves, but by combining these (and other functions) with conditionals, event and curve functions, we can control not just how particles behave, but when and why.

This is the first DVD from 2 DVD tutorial series for dynamic expressions in Maya.Particle Expressions are a way of using MEL (Maya-Embedded Language) to form and control relationships between particle and object attributes over time. Visual effects animators rely on expressions to create a variety of complex motion and behavior that is impossible to create using other dynamics techniques.This lecture will show you how to tap into the power of expressions and how to generate them. In addition, it will introduce you to different methods for creating and utilizing custom particle attributes for maximum effect.

In this second DVD of the Drawing the Figure series, Jack explores the properties of structure. Here, he introduces the basic elements required to create the illusion of 3-Dimensional space and form as they apply to the human figure. By constructing simple forms, exploring overlap and translating the complexity of the human body into its simplest, most basic forms, we can begin to understand the process of converting a 3-Dimensonal, real world form onto a flat, 2-Dimensional surface that an observer can understand. Jack will demonstrate how to see the forms and draw through them without losing the gestural quality described in his first DVD.
