In Greene and Greene-Inspired Dressing Mirror, Tommy goes all the way to Pasadena, California, to find inspiration at the magnificent Gamble House--one of the most spectacular examples of the Arts and Crafts work of architects Charles and Henry Greene. Tommy works with the North Bennet Street School's Steve Brown to go over the finer points of the project, including finger joints, cloud lifts, and drawer construction.

Pie-Crust Tray, Tommy heads to the new Art of the America's wing at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston to meet with the department's chair, Elliot Davis, and talk about the Chippendale and Federalist-style pie-crust tables they have in their collection. Back in the shop, Tommy and his guest, fellow woodworker Eli Cleveland, use the lessons from the MFA to demystify the turning and carving techniques needed to make a pie-crust tray.

In Arts and Crafts-Style Arm Chair, Tommy creates a dramatic piece that serves as the perfect introduction to chairmaking, revealing that the legs, arms, and back are all constructed using standard mortise-and-tenon joinery. Then Tommy travels to California where he visits the home of the late, great Samuel Maloof--one of the biggest names in chairmaking--and talks with a local curator who specializes in Maloof.

In Drop-Leaf Table, Tommy builds a beautiful Shaker-style project inspired by the centuries-old drop-leaf and gate-leg tables in Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. Plus, Chuck Bender of The Acanthus Workshop in Pennsylvania stops by the shop as Tommy instructs viewers on the ins and outs of the always fun-to-learn finger joints.

In Serving Cart, Tommy demonstrates how to make a practical serving cart out of dramatic scrap tiger maple. This essential kitchen piece uses a basic cart form, but for the serving area, Tommy hits the road in search of the right solid surface. In Canton, Massachusetts, he visits a shop where the choices range from granite and quartz to man-made surfaces--and he explores the pros and cons of each.

In Turned Floor Lamp, Tommy has a treat for all those woodworkers who are excited about turning, demonstrating how to use a lathe and how to turn cove and bead shapes into a tall floor lamp. Then he heads to New London, New Hampshire, to visit the studios of artist Peter Bloch who turns lamp shades out of aspen. Back in the shop, Tommy is joined by his friend and fellow woodworker Al D'Attanasio.

In Standing Mirror, Tommy shows off one of his favorite projects: a simple design, augmented by exquisite marquetry designed by Paul Schurch. Then, Paul demonstrates basic marquetry in his Santa Barbara, California, studio.

In Veneered Coffee Table, Tommy visits the metal works shop of Payne Engineering in Canton, Massachusetts, to learn the basics of making a metal frame. Back in the shop, Tommy is joined by fellow woodworker Laura Fuoco to build out the coffee table and impart some basic veneering techniques.
