A village in Nineteenth Century Europe is at first relieved when a circus breaks through the quarantine to take the local s minds off the plague. But their troubles are only beginning as children begin to disappear and the legacy of a long-ago massacre is brought to light.

Plot: Vampire Warriors, Law’s latest filmmaking stab, is his attempt at creating a Twilight-type franchise that is marketable in both Hong Kong and foreign film markets. And it does have plenty for your typical western-based genre fanboy: there are vampires that know kung fu, vampires dressed in tight leather clothing and even an implied lesbian romance.

It hadn t even been a year since a plantation owner named Louis had lost his wife in childbirth. Both his wife and the infant died, and now he has lost his will to live. A vampire named Lestat takes a liking to Louis and offers him the chance to become a creature of the night: a vampire. Louis accepts, and Lestat drains Louis mortal blood and then replaces it with his own, turning Louis into a vampire. Louis must learn from Lestat the ways of the vampire.

Originally intended as a softcore horror film (the presence of nudie actress Marsha Jordan--in her only straight movie--is a dead giveaway), COUNT YORGA, VAMPIRE was instead shot and released as a PG-rated vampire flick taking place in modern California, and it was one of AIP s biggest money-makers at the time. Casting Robert Quarry as a Dracula-like Bulgarian Count with a small coven of undead brides was a brilliant idea, as the actor was born to play the role and ranks among the silver screen s all-time best bloodsuckers. Originally released as a single DVD in 2001, MGM has now re-released it with its sequel, THE RETURN OF THE COUNT YORGA to make for one nifty double feature disc!
